Beverly J. Anderson, MA is the President, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of The Pacific Chapter of The Neuropathy Association, a nonprofit organization specializing in care, research, education and empowerment for people with neuropathy. At the helm of the organization, Ms. Anderson makes the most of her expertise in support group leadership and new group initiation by starting and supervising new groups within her regional area, training others, providing support to all of the groups within her region, and refreshing older groups. She also serves as the Chair of The Pacific Chapter of The Neuropathy Association Board of Directors, and writes the regional, monthly newsletter. Additionally, Ms. Anderson attends to ongoing organizational activities and concerns, and answers the 800 number and responding to callers’ questions about neuropathy. Ms. Anderson became involved in her profession when she started Neuropathy Group in Auburn, California, in 1998; at the time, she was the secretary for the Auburn Interfaith Food Closet Board. When the board moved, her friend’s husband asked why she needed a cane, and she told him she had peripheral neuropathy. The man replied that he had it, too, and suggested she join The Neuropathy Association. She took his advice, but discovered that although there were support groups, none were near her. She and another person subsequently started the group in Auburn.
