Julie Branken is a well-traveled individual who was born in Zambia, raised in South Africa and spent years in Australia and England before coming to the United States. She enjoys meeting different people and experiencing different cultures, and was inspired to purchase a bed-and-breakfast due to this passion. Ms. Branken has been running Plantation Bed and Breakfast for the past 16 years. The plantation was established in 1837 and was restored as a motel before becoming a B&B. It offers old-world charm while reflecting Ms. Branken’s personal style. As the owner, she prides herself on acting as a gracious host who provides customers with home-cooked breakfasts and memorable experiences. She also maintains the grounds that surround the house in order to uphold the atmosphere of the historic site. Aside from running the B&B, Ms. Branken is an author and has published the novel entitled, “Love, Life or Diamonds.” She was inspired to write this romantic and adventurous book by her grandfather, a diamond digger. She has also written five children’s book in a series called “Bubble’s World.” All of the books center on themes of compassion, love and harmony, and teach children about living in peace.
