Ms. Allen-Leake, who attended Northern Illinois and Loyola universities for her undergraduate studies, has 36 years of professional experience and has spent the past 30 growing her business. LJet Productions is now a multifaceted company that handles CD production, artist relations, public relations, and live show production for a wide variety of entertainment professionals. Well-known for her producing skills and in special events and tour direction, Ms. Allen-Leake’s live and recorded music productions have taken her throughout the U.S., Europe and Australia. She is a longtime voting member and former Chicago Chapter Vice President of The Recording Academy (the Grammy® organization), also serves as a board member for the Engineering & Recording Society of Chicago (EARS) and co-edits the organization’s EARDrum quarterly newsletter. Married to an Army veteran and daughter of a WWII Marine veteran, she also regularly produces concerts for recently returning service men and women.
Ms. Allen-Leake earned the Outstanding Woman of the Year award in 1984, the En Verite Progressive Award in 1995, and the Fred Hampton Image Award for her exceptional work in the industry. She attributes her success to hard work (a trait inherited from her parents) and her ability to adapt to the ever-changing world of music and music production. She also credits her generous network of industry professionals and supporters. As a means of “Paying It Forward,” Ms. Allen-Leake would like to work with young people who have a desire and determination to work in the music industry. And looking toward the future, she plans to produce a series of music projects specifically designed for survivors of stroke and breast cancer.
